Jess of the Merrifield Family blog came up with a FANTASTIC idea to keep Barbie modest…permanently. Hop over to her blog and see how she accomplished this task.
MAKE BARBIE MODEST
What a great idea!!! I don't have any daughters but I have been made uncomfortable when my son was googling over a naked barbie at our church group! AAAGGGHHHH!! I very discretely threw her immodest butt in the trash! I'm glad to know that the next time I find one I can do something more productful about it!
I hate to point this out... but these dolls do not look modest at all. They look "kinky", honestly I would think it would be better not to have a barbie in your home if you're offended by a doll.
i'm pretty sure the 'kinky' you're talking about is because the black looks really shiny, and I'm pretty sure that's just from camera flash. The dolls are plastic and thusly reflective. I think it's a great idea. Every kid is different and I know some kids don't 'notice' barbies etc as naked and some do... i know one mom who gets those Calico Somethingorother animals for her little girl because her boys are all 'hehe bums' and stuff over dolls.
I agree with Anonymous up there. They look like they are all wearing corsets. lol. They all look like Lady Gaga!
How is a naked Barbie offensive? That's saying the womens body is offensive. Aren't we suppose to be teaching our young girls to love themselves, no matter what? To each their own in how we raise our children. But I for one would rather just not buy the Barbie.
i love it!and agree with laura @mamapink a womens body isnt offensive but i still dont watch porn. and the point of it is teaching your children that their bodies are precious and not to be flaunted. if we EXPECT our children to dress and behave modestly that means that the things they are exposed to should be taken seriously. this is one way this mom is choosing to show her children how much modesty is to be prized
It does seem a bit....risky..for Barbie. I mean Moms complain about the skimpy outfits they have for her. This doesn't look better.I guess I just don't get the big difference? IDK, In my opinion letting little girls play with unmodified Barbies is not going to harm them in anyway. We are a modest family, but I am not worried about the idea she might get from Barbie. It is my job to make sure she knows that we do not dress unmodestly, or run around naked like half her Barbies are right now, lol.
