But if I were to read a children's book on my own, I would read "The Stinky Cheese Man". So funny! And I don't know if it qualifies as a children's book, it is a picture book, but my husband and I also enjoy "Walter the Farting Dog". My husband's name is Walter. :) rebolsen at gmail dot com

  106. Since having my first child, who is now two, my favorite book has been Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney. This is a very loving book that I hold dear to my heart. A young bunny and father rabbit share all the ways they love one another, with the bunny always trying to out-love his father. BUT, his father always discovers a way to love his son even more. This book reminds me of my childhood relationship with my own dad. He would always tell me that he loved me more than the whole wide world. As I share this book with my son, he always tells me that he "loves me this much" as he stretches out his arms as far as they will go. Gazing into his eyes and giving him a huge hug makes this my favorite book of all times.

A couple of books I love now are "You are Special" by Max Lucado as well as his book "Just In Case You Ever Wonder," which makes my wife cry.

One more. My Mom gave my 3-year-old "on the Night You Were Born" by Nancy Tillman for his third birthday. I had not read it before I started to read it for his bed-time story. Bad idea, because it had my crying several times. What a sweet book. I'm almost crying as I type this.

  147. When I was little it was all about the Ramona books. Now that I'm a grown up (and a teacher) it is so hard to choose. I would have to say Thank You, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polocco. Can't get through it without shedding a tear...or six or seven.

  153. My absolute favorite children's book series is Auntie Claus by Elise Primavera. The first book, Auntie Claus, is probably my favorite out of the three in the series. The illustrations are bright, bold, and exaggerated just enough to add that "wow" factor. Most pages have a little something hidden in the picture as well. The story is fabulously done, to the point where those who don't celebrate Christmas will enjoy the book just as much as those who wonder about the mystery of Santa Claus visiting their house every December. Its a feel-good story that can be enjoyed anytime even with the Christmas theme. I just love it!

  157. Never read any of Nancy Tillman's books until I was pregnant. We were decorating the room in polar bears and penguins so I wanted some books with polar bears to put on the bookshelf. We bought On The Night You Were Born, which I love. But when they had several of her books available at Kohls through the Kohls Cares program, I bought Wherever You Are. This is my favorite book now and read it often. It brings tears to my eyes each time I read it, but I think all mothers would love this book.

  169. All of my children (1 boy, 2 girls; ages 7 mos - 4 yrs) love the Llama Llama series. They have fun rhyming patterns with lovable animal characters. I enjoy reading them, also, because they are the perfect length for this audience...keeping my children's attention from beginning to end. Also, each book teaches a little life lesson (sharing, separation from Mom, etc). Fun reads!
